Hepworth Hostel is a small and unique-concept place.

Our motto is to be the destination of choice for families and groups who come to the Bruce Peninsula for short term leisure. Individuals travelling in the region for any reasons will also find it convenient for them to stop and rest between busy days of work or travel.

WHERE IS HEPWORTH

Hepworth is a small rural community at the base of the Bruce Peninsula in South-Western Ontario. About a 2 hours drive from the Greater Toronto Area, this paradise has something for everyone in the family.

GETTING HERE

We are at the crossroads and conveniently approachable from the Barrie, Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, and Blue Mountain areas through Hwy 26. If coming from Toronto Pearson International Airport or Greater Toronto Area (Ajax, Scarborough, Markham, Vaughan, Brampton, Mississauga), one can take Highway 10 which passes through Caledon, scenic Hockley Valley, Orangeville, Shelburne, Dundalk, Markdale and Chatsworth’s countryside. From the Niagara Falls side, Hamilton, Milton, Halton Hills, Guelph and the Kitchener/Waterloo area Highway 6 passes through Amish settlements and various Minto communities. Coming from the Detroit/Windsor, Chatham, Sarnia, and the London areas you have the choice of taking a direct route through Perth County or a relaxed drive through Lake Huron’s shore communities such as Grand Bend, Goderich, Kincardine and Southampton.

An average drive to the Hostel from major cities is about 2 hours and it offers magnificent scenery along the way.

PARKING

More than 35 parking spaces are available onsite. Parking is free for our registered guests.

ACCESSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

We have special parking spaces designated for people with disabilities and the main entrance to Hostel is through a ramp that is wheelchair accessible. Entrance to the hostel is also accessible but currently, there is no chair-lift available for a flight of stairs that has about 18 steps leading to the second floor. Once on the second floor, all common facilities and rooms are quite open and set up in a way that someone with a walker or wheelchair can use them easily. Still, we do not claim that the hostel is accessible by people with disabilities.

COMFORT, SAFETY AND SECURITY

The construction and set-up of Hepworth Hostel conform to current building codes and its premise is inspected by authorities to make sure it is safe and secure. We have installed inter-connected smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in each room and common area. They sound high pitch audible alarm in case of fire or CO presence in the Hostel along with a very high-intensity light strobe to alarm anyone who may be deaf.

Three strategically located and visually guided fire exits are available for guests to escape the building in case of fire. Several fire extinguishers are installed at key locations. The second floor has sufficient fire and sound separation from the Bar/Restaurant on the main floor. The building has central heating and air conditioning for guests’ comfort.

Entrance to the building and individual rooms are controlled by high-tech electronic locks to ensure the privacy and security of the guests. Each private room has a security latch inside the door and all washroom/toilet doors are equipped with special deadbolt locks to indicate if they were vacant or occupied.

Common areas in and around the property are equipped with video cameras and records of such video recordings are kept for a reasonable amount of time. A first-aid kit is available on site.

FURNITURE AND LINEN

All the furniture and mattresses in Hepworth Hostel are custom made to fit our space and we take pride in the fact that we use only the best quality bed sheets, duvets and towels that are regularly cleaned to maintain their hygiene and cleanliness.

LAUNDRY AND IRONING

Guests can request to use our laundry machine for a small fee and use an iron and ironing board free of cost.

BAR & RESTAURANT

There is a Tim Horton location just a few minutes walk from our Hostel that is open 24×7 and serves coffee, donuts, bagels, soups and other kinds of fast food.

A bar/restaurant is currently being set up on the main floor of our building. A pizzeria and Ice-cream parlour is also coming there in the near future.

Sauble Golf and Country Club is just 7 minutes drive from our place and has a small bar and restaurant.

Many other restaurants in Sauble, Wiarton and Owen Sound are about 10-20 minutes from our place.
